Google Settles Buzz Class Action
The LA Times reported that it will pay $8.5 million to several Internet privacy and policy organizations as part of a class action settlement. The case involved its Buzz social hub, where it was alleged that Google violated privacy rights by automatically adding Buzz to Gmail without proper disclosure.
The U.S. District Court in San Jose, Calif. will consider final approval of the proposed settlement on Jan. 31, 2011. But a federal judge has given the settlement preliminary approval.
