About Rockwell International
Rockwell International was a major player in the American manufacturing space. The company was established after World War I and stepped into the aircraft industry, defense and commercial electronics, as well as the auto part industry. Rockwell made printing presses, avionics and a number of other industrial products. In 1968, Rockwell Manufacturing Company included seven operating divisions manufacturing industrial valves, motors, power tools, and gas and water meters. In 1973, those divisions were combined with the aerospace division and renamed Rockwell International.
At its peak, Rockwell International had 115,000 employees. In 1966, Rockwell invented the first power miter saw. In 1981, their power tool group was acquired by Pentair and re-branded Delta Machinery, eventually then acquired by Black & Decker.
