Associates in Dermatology Data Breach Investigation

Associates in Dermatology, a network of dermatology clinics in Indiana, Kentucky, and New York, has begun notifying patients that some of their personal data may have been exposed in a ransomware attack on a third party.
Virtual Private Network (VPN) Solutions, which provides electronic medical record management services to Associates in Dermatology, experienced a ransomware attack in October 2021. Associates in Dermatology was notified on December 22, 2021.
Associates in Dermatology said the compromised files may have contained the following types of information:
- Name
- Address
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Medical condition(s)/diagnosis
- Treatment information
- Test results
- Health insurance policy number
