Biolase, Inc. has reported a data security incident that stemmed from an unauthorized party gaining access to the company’s computer network. The company confirmed that sensitive consumer data was compromised. Biolase has not yet disclosed the type of information involved in the breach, but on May 20, 2022, the company filed an official notice of the breach and sent out data breach notification letters to all affected individuals.

According to the Biolase data breach notice, the company detected unusual activity on its computer network back in December 2021. An investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed the company systems between December 21, 2021 and December 29, 2021.

Biolase is a medical device company based in Foothill Ranch, California, developing and manufacturing laser equipment for dentists and other medical professionals.
