What Happened at CBIZ?
CBIZ recently reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the company had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) in its systems may have been compromised. According to a notification letter sent to those impacted, on June 24, 2024, CBIZ discovered the data intrusion and began an initial investigation. On August 28, 2024, CBIZ started mailing data breach notification letters to all known impacted individuals.
CBIZ later determined that certain sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and stolen by an unauthorized third party between June 2 and June 21, 2024. The types of compromised data potentially exposed includes the following:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Information about health and welfare plans
