OakBend Medical Center Data Breach Investigation

Oakbend Medical Center, out of Richmond, Texas, announced recently that it suffered a ransomware attack. The attacked resulted in certain files on its network being encrypted and the medical center taking all systems offline.
On September 9th, Oakbend Medical said there were still issues with their telephone and email systems, and has yet to confirm whether files containing patient data were exfiltrated from its systems.
Daixin Team is the ransomware gang claiming responsibility for the attack and says a huge number of files were stolen that contained patient health information. The type of information allegedly exposed includes:
- Names
- Dates of birth
- Medical record numbers
- Patient account numbers
- Social Security numbers
- Medical and treatment information
