Over 165,000 individuals may be impacted by a data security incident reported by PracticeMax. PracticeMax is a business management and IT solutions company that provides billing, consulting, and registration services to insurance companies, employers, and physicians.

In May 2021, PracticeMax became aware of technical issues on their network and an investigating concluded ransomware had been installed on certain systems. Unauthorized access began on April 17, 2021 and files were accessed and may have been removed. Data stored in the network was encrypted by the ransomware.

While the information is not the same for every individual involved, the potentially leaked personal information includes names and Social Security numbers.
