San Diego American Indian Health Center (SDAIHC), a non-profit community health center that provides dental, behavioral health, and community wellness services, has begun notifying patients of a data security incident that may have compromised the personal data of thousands of individuals.

On May 5, 2022, SDAIHC discovered evidence of a cybersecurity attack affecting their network and hired experts to assist with an investigation. The investigation determined that an unknown actor obtained data from the health center’s network without authorization.

The following personal and protected health information may have been involved in the incident:

  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state identification card number
  • Tribal identification card number
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
  • Date of birth
