The 2021 winter has been a struggle for many Americans, and to add injury to insult, the Toro Company, out of Bloomington, Minnesota, is recalling thousands of snow blowers when consumers need them most. The Toro Snow Blower recall announcement came as huge winter storms began dumping snow and ice on large parts of the U.S.
The company says their Toro Power Max Snowthrowers can pose an amputation hazard if the auger fails to disengage when the control lever is released. The recall on February 17, 2021 was announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and has also been posted on the Toro website. About 6,700 snow blowers were recalled and should not be used until they are repaired.
The Toro Power Max 826 OHAE Snowthrowers (model number 37802) could be an amputation hazard, and consumers are urged to repair all affected units. The snow blowers were sold at Home Depot, Ace Hardware and other online retailers between November 2020 and January 2021.
