The Indiana-based Johnson Memorial Health system announced a cyberattack that affected the health system’s computer network, potentially compromising thousands of files filled with sensitive personal data.
Johnson Memorial had trouble keeping their computers online, highlighting the serious consequences of the data breach. A spokesman said it could take several days for Johnson Memorial health to resolve the situation and restore the IT network back to operations.
Johnson Memorial Health has a network of over 100 physicians based in Johnson County, Indiana, with thousands of patients. The data breach incident comes within a week of another health data security incident in Indiana. Eskenazi Health recently suffered a data breach in that impacted the health system and may have leaked a trove of personal data. The hospital posted on its website informing patients that personal information was stolen and released on the internet.
Eskenazi determined that cybercriminals stole employee names, addresses, Social Security numbers, credit card information, prescription information, and insurance information.
