A phishing attack on the Saint Alphonsus Health System email network resulted in the compromise of thousands of patient’s personal data. The hack also impacted some patients of Saint Agnes Medical Center.

Saint Alphonsus identified the security breach after an employee’s email account was hacked in January. The account was secured, and an investigation began, but not before 134,906 patients may have had their personal data stolen.

Saint Alphonsus determined that the data breach gave the hacker access to the account and stored information for 2 days. The stolen data and leaked personal information may include:

  • Addresses
  • Billing information
  • Date of births
  • Emails
  • Full names
  • Medical record numbers
  • Telephone numbers
  • Treatment information
  • Credit card numbers
  • Social Security numbers
