The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics confirmed on January 25, 2021 that multiple employee email accounts were accessed by unauthorized individuals, compromising the protected health information of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics patients.

Notifications were not sent to affected individuals until March 2021. The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics serves tens of thousands of patients in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. The hacked email accounts potentially affect thousands of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics patients, employees and their dependents, and the following types of personal information may be compromised:
