Cuisinart Injury Lawsuits & Settlements

Several class action personal injury and product liability lawsuits have been filed on behalf of injured victims who claim Cuisinart pressure cookers and kitchen appliances have been defective in design and manufactured poorly by Conair, leading to serious laceration injury. Attorneys allege the company, Conair, failed to warn consumers of the dangers of the product, and consumers have suffered injuries as a result.

In a recent notable Cuisinart Injury lawsuit filed by an injured South Dakota woman, a lid-locking mechanism on a Cuisinart GPG-600 pressure cooker allegedly failed and resulted in serious burn injuries. Burn injuries have been more common in recent years as kitchen appliances like food processors and pressure cookers are made poorly and defective.

This is not the first time Cuisinart has been targeted in personal injury lawsuits. In 2016, the company announced the recall of 8 million food processors. A safety issue involved the riveted blades used in certain models were reportedly cracking, which led to parts of the blade breaking off and mixing in with the processed food. Unless consumers noticed the blade pieces, it could easily be ingested.

In 69 Cuisinart Injury reports received by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), 30 of them included reports of consumers cutting the inside of their mouth or suffering tooth damage.

The huge Cuisinart recall notice did not specify if any of the blade pieces were swallowed, potentially causing additional and more serious injury, but the hazard is severe enough to consider the possibility. The recalled Cuisinart food processor blades were sold from July 1996 to December 2015 across the United States.
