Destination Maternity, a maternity clothing retailer based out of New jersey, is notifying 93,776 current and former employees regarding a data security event that may impact a large volume of personal information.
According to the Destination Maternity data breach notification letter dated August 13, 2021, the network breach occurred between March 16 and April 13, but was not discovered until June 11.The data breach may have leaked employee data, which could include the following:
- Names
- Addresses
- Social Security numbers
Before the full investigation, Destination Maternity said a database containing personal customer information was breached in March, pointing to a “cyber event that impacted certain information technology systems.”
Affected Destination Maternity employees have been offered credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services, though attorneys believe those impacted by data breach events deserve more, and may seek legal action against employers who fail to properly protect personal information.
