Representing Foseco workers in cancer claims

The Lyon Firm is investigating Foseco asbestos exposure claims on behalf of former employees and contractors. Foseco was known to use hazardous asbestos materials that may have caused cancer and other serious illness to those who spent time in the facilities.

Foseco, based in Cleveland, Ohio, manufactured asbestos foundry products for steel mills and other industrial job sites. Its products were used in foundry melting shops, core shops and the molding line and pouring stages.

A large number of former staff at the company and at similar companies have fallen ill. Cancers like mesothelioma and lung cancer were not uncommon. Due to cancer clusters, an investigation of the safety of such workplaces determined that these were unsafe work sites. As a result, several occupational cancer lawsuits have been filed and asbestos trusts were established for victims.

Cleveland’s Foseco History

Foseco’s business was manufacturing products and providing services for the growing foundry industry in Ohio and beyond. Its products were used in foundry melting shops, core shops and the molding line.

Foseco made products like furnace brick linings, flow control products, crucibles for use with molten metals, and temperature measurement devices.

The Cleveland plant eventually installed vacuums to collect the dust from asbestos products only after violating health guidelines for air quality passed by Congress in 1970. Foseco agreed to stop using asbestos in 1976.

Unlike other asbestos manufacturers, Foseco never declared bankruptcy and does not have a related trust fund. Instead, it continues to handle asbestos lawsuits through settlements.

    How Does Asbestos Exposure Occur?

    What Materials Contain Asbestos?

Asbestos was widely used in piping, insulation, electrical components, machine parts, packaging, flooring, ceiling tiles, roofing, and in many building materials.

Can I File a Mesothelioma Lawsuit?

If you were exposed to asbestos at your workplace, and have developed cancer or a related illness, you are likely to qualify for compensation.

    Why Did Companies Use Asbestos?
