After discovering a data breach at CareATC, the company began sending out notification letters to those who may be impacted. According to the HHS website, around 98,774 individuals may be affected by the CareATC data breach.

In a statement, the company said the data breach may impact the private of information of certain patients, employees, and dependents of patients and employees.

CareATC has not reported any known data misuse with the leaked information related to the incident, but that is not out of the realm of possibility. The company is only providing individuals with current information about the incident, and victims should take action as soon as possible.

CareATC first became aware of suspicious network activity in late June of 2021. An investigation by a third party concluded that two employee email accounts were hacked between June 18 and June 29, 2021, and the following information may have been compromised:

  • Medical history
  • Treatment information
  • Health insurance information
  • Passport number
  • US Alien Registration number
  • Electronic/digital signature
  • Username and password
