The Lyon Firm is investigating a data breach that has potentially exposed the personal information of over 201,000 Northwestern Memorial HealthCare patients within the network of nine health system hospitals.

Northwestern Memorial is the last health system to confirm that they are another victim of the Elekta breach. Elekta discovered the cyberattack in April 2021 and alerted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and notified the affected health systems.

The Elekta breach has affected 42 health systems across the U.S., including Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. It is not entirely known what personal data has been compromised. The other health systems that have reported on the same Electra security breach includes:

  • Carle Health
  • Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma
  • Lifespan
  • Southcoast Health
  • Yale New Haven Health
