CommonSpirit Health confirmed an “IT security incident” on its website, which could impact the personal health information of thousands. The healthcare system say it has been suffering IT outages as a result of a security incident that began on October 3. The incident is impacting multiple facilities across several states.

CommonSpirit Health is one of the biggest nonprofit healthcare systems in the US, with more than 1,000 care sites and 140 hospitals.

The list of healthcare facilities impacted by the CommonSpirit incident is likely to grow and already includes CHI Health locations in Omaha, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) and Bergan Mercy Hospital.
