In May 2021, Receivables Performance Management (RPM) discovered a data security incident that impacted its server. According to reports, around 3.7 million individuals may be impacted.

An investigation determined that first access to RPM’s systems occurred in April 2021, with ransomware launched in May 2021. Personal information in the files may include Social Security numbers.
