The Lyon Firm is reviewing a ransomware attack that allegedly targeted AllCare Pharmacy, a specialty pharmacy operating out of Little Rock, Arkansas. An investigating is underway and more details will soon be known about what information has been potentially compromised and how many individuals may be impacted.

Reports have surfaced that the Lorenz ransomware group has claimed to have targeted the AllCare Pharmacy in a recent cyber attack. The security breach was announced by the threat actor itself on their dark web forum. The pharmacy itself has not yet released a statement.

The AllCare Pharmacy data breach may have exposed a large amount of personal data should the claims of the group be legit. Many healthcare data breach incidents compromise the Social Security Numbers, contact information, as well as the medical and health information of affected individuals.

The healthcare sector has been a prime target for cybercriminals in recent years, as the industry has lagged in data security and ransomware groups label them as “easy targets,” and quite valuable targets as they store a great deal of personal information.

The Lorenz ransomware group has gained notoriety in the precarious data theft industry. Lorenz has a history of demanding ransoms for the safe release of encrypted data. If a ransom is not paid immediately, the stolen data is published on a dedicated data leak site to apply pressure to victims to pay a ransom. They may also resort to selling the data to other threat actors. If no ransom is paid, and the data is not purchased, Lorenz will release the password for the data leak archives so that they are publicly available. The origins of the ransomware group are traced back to 2020, and may be affiliated with ThunderCrypt.
