Ernest Health Data Breach Investigation

The Lyon Firm is investigating Ernest Health data breach claims on behalf of impacted individuals nationwide. On March 30, 2024, Ernest Health filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Massachusetts after allegedly discovering that an unauthorized party gained access to the company’s computer network. What Happened at Ernest Health?

The IT networks of numerous Ernest Health hospitals were breached, resulting in an “unauthorized party” being able to access patients’ sensitive information, which can include the following:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Medical record numbers
  • Health insurance plan member IDs
  • Claims data
  • Diagnoses
  • Prescription information

After completing its initial data security investigation, Ernest Health began sending out data breach notification letters to individuals believed to be affected. The Ernest Health data breach was only recently announced, and an investigation of the timeline of events is still ongoing. According to reports, on February 1, 2024, Ernest Health was alerted to unusual activity within its computer network, and later learned that an unauthorized party gained access to its network between January 16, 2024 and February 4, 2024.

On March 30, 2024, Ernest Health started sending out data breach letters to anyone who was possibly affected by the data security incident.

  • Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest
  • Summa Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock

The company’s hospitals are located throughout the United States in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Montana, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
