Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Data Breach Investigation

The Lyon Firm is actively involved in class action personal privacy and data theft cases and is currently investigating Harvard Pilgrim Health Care data breach claims for plaintiffs nationwide.

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC) has begun notifying thousands of individuals after a ransomware attack in April 2023 compromised sensitive personal data. According to reports, 2,550,922 people may have had their data impacted.

The Massachusetts-based non-profit health services provider announced this to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services breach portal, weeks after Point32Health announced a ransomware attack.

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Commercial and Medicare Advantage Stride systems were impacted, potentially leaking the following types of sensitive information:

  • Full names
  • Physical addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Dates of birth
  • Health insurance account information
  • Social Security numbers
  • Provider taxpayer identification numbers
  • Clinical information, including medical history, diagnoses, treatment, dates of service, and provider names
