Joe Lyon served as executive committee on the NextGen Healthcare data breach case, which has been settled for $19 million, compensating millions of individuals. A judge has given final approval of the settlement.

The settlement allows for as much as $7,500 in reimbursement for out-of-pocket losses, such as fraudulent charges, identity theft expenses, and others. Class members can claim up to 10 hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour for a total of $250 in lost-time payments.

On March 30, 2023, NextGen Healthcare discovered a data security incident on its systems, potentially compromising the personal identifiable information of thousands of individuals. NextGen determined that an unauthorized actor may have had access to personal data between March 29 and April 14, 2023.
