The Lyon Firm has filed a lawsuit against T-Mobile USA on behalf of a class of plaintiffs who allege a recent data breach resulted in significant data theft. The T-Mobile data breach resulted in the potential leak of Social Security Numbers, dates of birth, and drivers’ license numbers of millions of customers nationwide.

T-Mobile and other companies that store customers’ and employee personal data have a duty to protect such information and to design proper security systems in line with cybersecurity standards.

It is well known that personal data and financial account information are valuable commodities and frequent targets of cybercriminals. According to Javelin Strategy & Research, in 2017 alone, over 16 million individuals were affected by identity theft. When companies fail to protect the data that they store, they may be held accountable for their negligence.

There are long-term consequences for data breach victims whose social security numbers are stolen by hackers. Identity theft and fraud are not uncommon, and victims will have to go to great lengths to protect their financial well-being in the future.

The Lyon Firm is currently involved in several data breach and data theft cases, and is investigating data privacy claims on behalf of individuals nationwide. Call for a free consultation and case review.
