Representing Davis Besse Workers in Occupational Cancer Claims

The Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station is a 894 megawatt (MW), nuclear power plant, located northeast of Oak Harbor, Ohio. It has a single pressurized water reactor and is operated by Energy Harbor.
The power plant has been a great employer in the region, but unfortunately, Davis Besse has been the site of several safety incidents that negatively impacted the plant’s operation. In fact, per the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Davis Besse has been the source of two of the most dangerous nuclear incidents in the United States since 1979.
Due to the risk of fire hazards at nuclear power stations, asbestos insulation was used widely before it known that the material was toxic and led directly to cancer. Changes were made at the insistence of the EPA and OSHA, though maybe a little too late. Hundreds of Davis Besse Power Plant workers may have been exposed to asbestos, risking serious cancers like mesothelioma and lung cancer.
Oak harbor, Ohio workers and other power plant workers have filed toxic exposure claims with the help of our lawyers. Plaintiffs argue that their employers did not provide safe work environments and failed to warn workers of the risks of the workplace.
Joe Lyon is an experienced asbestos lawyer investigating mesothelioma and lung cancer claims for former Oak Harbor, Ohio workers.
A study published by the British Journal of Industrial Medicine concluded that even a small amount of asbestos exposure by power plant workers “may induce malignant mesothelioma.”
